Tetras are small, active freshwater fish native to South America and Central America, known for their bright colors and calm schooling behavior. Popular varieties include Neon, Cardinal, Rummy Nose, Ember, and Black Skirt Tetras. They thrive in well-planted community tanks with gentle filtration and stable water parameters. Their peaceful nature and constant movement make them a favorite for aquarists of all experience levels. Some species may fin-nip so caution is advised when selecting tank mates.
Recommended Tank Size: A minimum of 40 litres
- Peaceful and social schooling fish
- Best kept in groups of at least 6–10
- Ideal companions: rasboras, guppies, corydoras, small gouramis, and dwarf cichlids
- Avoid large or aggressive tank mates
