Chaetomorpha or ‘Chaeto’ is a popular macroalgae commonly used by Saltwater Aquarium hobbyists because of its ability to absorb nutrients such as nitrates and phosphates. It is characterised by its green, stiff and curly thread-like strands. Chaeto is typically seen growing in entangled clumps. This natural filter is hardy and has a fast growth rate making it a great addition to all saltwater aquariums and/or refuguims. Chaeto also provides an ideal habitat for desirable organisms such as copepods and amphipods that in turn act as food for fish and coral.
